Dall Sheep

One of the more iconic arctic species in Alaska is the Dall Sheep. The country these sheep live in is not only one of the harshest climes in the world, but also one of the most rugged. Snow white atop the high peaks and mountain passes looking down on its surroundings, this is mountain hunting at its finest. Dall Sheep are the most available species of sheep to hunt, no putting in for points and no draw in most areas. All you need is a guide and a good set of legs. Hunting Sheep is like anything else, if the animals are hard to get at then the pressure will be low to non existent. That is exactly what you will experience in our corner of the Brooks Range, right on the border of the famed Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Getting here is half the battle but once you arrive in hunting camp the rewards will be well worth the effort.
Camp for this hunt will be cabins in conjunction with wall tent platforms as well as dome tents and two person spike tents. Food while in spike camp will be freeze dried meals however you will be enjoying fresh food while in base camp. A hunter should be prepared to do 10 miles in a day however the norm will be about half of that. In my opinion the best thing, or "workout", to prepare for the hunt is to strengthen ankles and knees. A little bit of work with an elastic band every evening leading up to your hunt and it could be a world of difference.

In addition to pursuing the trophy ram you are after we encourage you to carry a Grizzly Tag as well, the season is open and we allow the additional harvest on a trophy fee basis however if we replace a Dall Sheep with a Grizzly Bear there will be no extra cost to you!
